Σε μια εποχή γενικευμένης κρίσης δημιουργείται και κυκλοφορεί ένα νέο επιστημονικό περιοδικό, το ΚΕ. Πρόκειται για μια ετήσια τρίγλωσση επιθεώρηση κοινωνικών ερευνών (κείμενα γραμμένα στην ελληνική, αγγλική ή γαλλική γλώσσα) που περιλαμβάνει πρωτότυπα και αδημοσίευτα κείμενα τα οποία εντάσσονται κάθε φορά στο ειδικό θεματικό περιεχόμενο του τεύχους.
Με αφορμή τα 10 χρόνια από το θάνατο του Γάλλου κοινωνιολόγου Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002), το πρώτο τεύχος του περιοδικού αφιερώνεται στη μνήμη του, έχει ως θέμα τις πολιτισμικές κι εκπαιδευτικές ανισότητες και φέρει τον τίτλο:
 Οι γειτονιές του πολιτισμού
Αντλώντας από  τα δεδομένα πρωτογενών και πρωτότυπων εμπειρικών ερευνών, στο πρώτο τεύχος του Κοινωνικές Επιστήμες παρουσιάζονται έρευνες πάνω στο κοινό των ελληνικών μουσείων, στο κοινό των ελληνικών θεάτρων, στην κοινωνική προέλευση των μαθητών των ιδιωτικών σχολείων δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης της Αθήνας, μια μελέτη πάνω στις πιθανότητες πρόσβασης των νέων στα πανεπιστημιακά ιδρύματα της Ελλάδας (2001-2009) καθώς και μια εργασία πάνω στους όρους δυνατότητας σύγκρισης των πολιτισμικών πρακτικών. Οι έρευνες αυτές καταδεικνύουν πόσο η σχολική και η πολιτισμική δόξα, που κυριαρχούν  εδώ και 15 χρόνια στους αντίστοιχους χώρους, παραχωρώντας έδαφος σε μια σχολειοκεντρική και πολιτισμικοκεντρική λογική –που εστιάζουν, δηλαδή, την προσοχή  τους στους καθαρά σχολικούς και πολιτισμικούς παράγοντες εξήγησης των αντίστοιχων πρακτικών–, αδυνατούν να κατανοήσουν και να εξηγήσουν  τους κοινωνικούς μηχανισμούς παραγωγής των σχολικών και πολιτισμικών ανισοτήτων. Κατ’ επέκταση, οι εργασίες αυτές επιβεβαιώνουν το γεγονός πως για έναν κοινωνικό επιστήμονα δεν υπάρχει σήμερα τίποτε πιο αποτελεσματικό πολιτικά από το να κάνει απλώς τη δουλειά του με αυστηρότητα.

«… Η μελέτη των πιθανοτήτων εισαγωγής στην ανώτατη εκπαίδευση, κατά τη δεκαετία του 2000, που ακολουθεί, τόσο στην κάθετη (πρόσβαση στο σύνολο της ανώτατης εκπαίδευσης) όσο και στην οριζόντια διάστασή τους (πρόσβαση στις σχολές και τα τμήματα), γίνεται για πρώτη φορά με βάση ένα συνδυασμό μεταβλητών: το επάγγελμα του πατέρα, το επάγγελμα της μητέρας, το επίπεδο εκπαίδευσης του πατέρα, το επίπεδο εκπαίδευσης της μητέρας και το φύλο των νέων».

Η διαπολιτισμική σύγκριση: ζητήματα μεθόδων και πρακτικών
Από τη γέννηση των κοινωνικών επιστημών […] το συγκριτικό εγχείρημα αποτελεί κάτι περισσότερο από μια μέθοδο ανάμεσα σε άλλες, ενώ, ταυτοχρόνως, συνιστά και μια απομίμηση του πειραματικού εγχειρήματος των φυσικών επιστημών που εν γένει δεν μπορεί να εφαρμοστεί στους δικούς τους τομείς. Σε έναν κόσμο όλο και πιο παγκοσμιοποιημένο, αυτή η προσέγγιση εμφανίζεται όλο και πιο πανταχού παρούσα. […] Αυτή η ιδιαίτερη «επιθυμία γνώσης» μοιάζει ν’ αντανακλά έναν αληθινό μηχανισμό εξουσίας, ένα ισχυρό εργαλείο κοινωνικής ρύθμισης στο οποίο πολύ συχνά αναφέρεται ο πολιτικός λόγος προκειμένου να βρει επιχειρήματα και νομιμοποίηση για τους σκοπούς και τις στρατηγικές του.

Reform paradoxes: academic freedom and governance in Greek and Turkish higher education

This study evaluates the impact of higher education reforms, implemented in the early 1980s in Greece and Turkey, due to preceding student and wider political radicalization, on academic freedom. It highlights a paradox, namely that authoritarian corporatism in Turkey inadvertently facilitated academic freedom in higher education, whereas in Greece participatory majoritarianism ended up stifling academic freedom. Authoritarian corporatism in Turkey mandated the introduction of private universities. These expanded academic freedom within the wider national goal of the country’s European Union membership. Participatory majoritarianism in Greece conversely mandated student organisation participation in the governance of Greek higher education. These acquired powerful rent-seeking interests, which have progressively constricted academic freedom.

Quels types de carrières filles et garçons envisagent-ils pour leur avenir ?

Avec un écart de 11 points de pourcentage en moyenne, les filles sont plus nombreuses que les garçons à envisager de devenir juriste, haut fonctionnaire, cadre ou d’exercer une profession libérale.
Seules 5 % des filles des pays de l’OCDE, en moyenne, s’attendent à travailler dans les domaines de l’ingénierie et de l’informatique, contre 18 % des garçons.
Dans tous les pays de l’OCDE, les filles sont plus nombreuses que les garçons à désirer travailler dans le milieu médical.
