7TH INTERNATIONAL BASIL BERNSTEIN SYMPOSIUM

We are delighted to announce the 7th biennial symposium on research inspired by the work of Basil Bernstein will be held at MMSH. Located in the beautiful town of Aix-en-Provence in the south of France, the symposium is scheduled for 28-30 June, 2012.

In keeping with the spirit of sharing an experience of high-level intellectual discussion established by the BB1-6 conferences, this symposium will not be streamed into parallel sessions. It is also planned to have simultaneous translation (French and English) for presentations.

Registration cost has not yet been finalised, as we are applying for funding to support the translation costs. We anticipate the costs being no more, and we hope less (especially for PhD students) than recent symposia (e.g. BB5 was 185GBP).

· 1st Dec 2011 deadline for abstracts of 500-1000 words (in English or French)

· January 2012: applicants to present papers will be notified of decision concerning acceptance

· February 2012: draft programme on the website

· March 30th, 2012: deadline for registration and payment
